Yes, you can make beer at home! Great tasting beer! Here's what you'll need to get started:
- A 6.5 gallon plastic bucket, with lid (hole punched in lid for airlock).
- A 5 gallon plastic bucket*, with lid (and hole), or a glass carboy and rubber stopper (with hole).
- One airlock (maybe two).
- Racking cane.
- 5 feet of clear rubber tubing.
- Bottle filler*.
- Bottle capper*.
- Baked enamel or stainless steel boiling pot, at least 16qt. size.
- Brown glass beer bottles* (40 0.5l or 55 12oz.), or a 5 gallon Cornelius Keg.
- Spurtle or stainless long handled stirring spoon.
*Note: These items will be used to bottle your beer. You need a different set of equipment for kegging.
A good starter system will also include:
- Two liquid crystal thermometers.
- Hydrometer.
- Cleaner/sanitizer.
- Ingredients for your first batch of beer (a kit) and bottle caps.
