Just the news...

| Lovely garden in Calais, France... |
It's been a very long time since the last update, sorry about that. The photo is from a trip I took to Nimes, we drove down there and stopped overnight in Calais on the way home. That trip was excellent, and I'd recommend a visit to that area (Provence), but we actually preferred staying in Arles, not far from Nimes. I was there about a week, the drive was lovely and the weather was very nice, 25ºC and clear. Food and wine from that area is exquisite, I brought back a large bag of herbes de provence that Rhonda and I use at home, as well as half a dozen cases of wine from that region (Sirah and Grenache).
Since that trip I went to Scotland again for two weeks, brrr, and have been home studying every night and day (when I'm not working) for exams coming up in a week. School has been going well but I'm still very nervous around exam time. I missed halloween, being in Scotland during that time, and Thanksgiving was rather uneventful, as the silly English don't celebrate it here. Rhonda's Thanksgiving was last month (Canada), and I had to work on Thursday, but got Friday off. The other Americans were not available to do a big turkey dinner (we had one here at our house last year and hoped it would start a tradition) so we decided to wait until Christmas to do the turkey.
It looks like we will not be able to retire here as planned (at least not easily), so we're looking at moving back to the states while I finish my modules. I'll have to return to Scotland for a few months to do my project, and will be in a better position to decide what our future plans will be at that time. We're still selling the house and have a year to make plans on where we want to live. With so many things to consider and prioritise, we've decided to "sleep on it".
Dad got a ten-point buck I heard and I'm dying to speak with him and hear the tale. Bob and Sondra have moved to Spokane, Erskine and Hiroko bought a home and are expecting number two, James is off to Gitmo (I think he was born for it), Dave is working on his master's, Rhonda is working again (full-time soon) and I've got a small design project for a company in Ohio (more on that later). When it rains, it pours! So forgive me for being out of touch, I just haven't had a second to sit and write. After exams things should slow down a bit. For now, be talking to you soon!
